SCORM
SCORM is the format used when exporting courses from MentorKit. Exporting a course as SCORM creates a ZIP file that can be uploaded to a SCORM-compatible Learning Management System (LMS).
How to use a SCORM export
To use a SCORM file:
- Generate an export from the Export page
- Download the ZIP file
- Upload the file to your LMS
The upload process depends on the LMS you are using.
SCORM is required when uploading courses to most LMS platforms.
Important
- The ZIP file should be uploaded directly to an LMS
- Do not extract the ZIP file before uploading
- SCORM files are usually blocked as email attachments for security reasons
If you update your course, you must generate and upload a new export.
What is SCORM
SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) is a standard used to package and deliver e-learning content. It ensures that courses created in one system can be used in different LMS platforms.
SCORM compatibility
A SCORM-compatible LMS can:
- Load and display the course
- Track learner activity
- Store results such as progress and score
Supported features may vary depending on the LMS.
What is tracked
When using SCORM, the following data can be reported to the LMS:
- Final score
- Completion status (for example: complete, incomplete, pass, fail)
- Time spent
- Learner progress (resume where they left off)
Tracking behaviour depends on LMS support.
