Completion Requirements
Completion Requirements define when a course is considered completed and how individual pages are tracked during course delivery. These settings control both learner progress tracking and navigation behavior.
This article covers:
- Course Completion Requirements
- Page Completion Requirements
Course Completion Requirements

Course Completion Requirements determine when a learner has completed the entire course.
Two criteria are available, and both must be met for the course to be marked as completed.
Minimum Pages Completed
This setting defines the minimum percentage of pages the learner must complete.
- The value is set as a percentage (%)
- The percentage is calculated based on pages that are tracked
- Pages marked as Optional are still counted as completed when visited
Example:
If Minimum Pages Completed is set to 80%, the learner must complete at least 80% of the course pages.
Minimum Score to Pass
This setting defines the minimum percentage of correct answers required across course tasks (such as quizzes or assessments).
- The value is set as a percentage (%)
- Only tracked tasks are included in the calculation
- The score reflects the learner’s overall performance
Example:
If Minimum Score to Pass is set to 75%, the learner must achieve at least 75% correct answers in course tasks.
Page Completion Requirements

Page Completion Requirements control how progress is tracked on individual pages and how learners are allowed to navigate through the course. These settings define what must be completed on a page before it is considered done, and whether navigation is restricted.
Page Completion Requirements can be applied at two levels:
- At the course level, affecting all pages in the course
- At the page level, affecting only a single selected page
Applying Page Completion Requirements
When a course is selected, you can set a default Page Completion Requirement that applies to all pages in the course.
When an individual page is selected, you can override the course setting and apply a different requirement to that specific page.
If pages within a course use a mix of different requirements, the course-level setting will display as Custom.
Page Completion Requirement Options
Each page can be set to one of the following completion modes. These modes determine both tracking behavior and learner navigation.
Optional
When a page is set to Optional, no completion tracking is enforced.
- Content on the page (such as tasks, videos, or audio) is not required
- Learner interaction with page content is not tracked
- The page is automatically marked as Done as soon as it is opened
- Learners can freely move forward and backward in the course
Optional pages are typically used for reference material, additional information, or content that is not essential for course completion.
Required
When a page is set to Required, all tracked content on the page must be completed before the page is marked as done.
This includes:
- Voice-over audio
- Videos
- Interactive elements
- Tasks and activities
Navigation remains unlocked, meaning learners can still move freely between pages even if the page has not yet been completed. However, the page status will not change to Done until all required content has been completed.
Required pages ensure that learners engage with all critical content without enforcing a strict navigation sequence.
Mandatory
When a page is set to Mandatory, the completion rules are the same as for Required pages, but with additional navigation restrictions.
- All tracked content must be completed
- Navigation to the next page is locked
- Learners cannot continue until the page is fully completed
Mandatory pages enforce a linear progression through the course and are commonly used for compliance training, key learning objectives, or critical assessments.
